A Great Investment in Our Community’s Future!
We are Effective...
Last year, Kids on the Block had one of our most successful years ever! Here are some of the highlights. We:
Reached 70,606 elementary school children with Kids on the Block educational programs!
- Educated on Health issues: 27,470 children
- Educated on Social Issues: 13,170 children
- Educated on Safety Issues: 28,996 children
- Educated on Disability Awareness: 970 children
- Expanded, for the first time, into Clark County, Washington classrooms.
- Partnered with Kaiser Permanente, Community Health Partnership, and Oregon Dairy Council to develop interactive materials on nutrition and activity for students attending the Healthy Choices program and their families.
- Partnered with Tears of Joy Puppet Theatre to provide enhanced training for our puppeteers.
- Celebrated our 11th exceptional Yoshida’s Sand in the City event at Pioneer Square.
- Created the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund All-Star Donor Circle, with 66
generous supporters each giving $1,000 or more, which was graciously matched by the Fund.
- Aired on Entercom Radio's Kidsgiving Phone-a-thon, resulting in over $20,000 in donations, while publicizing Kids on the Block programs throughout the community.
- Touched the lives of children in ways that cannot be expressed in numbers: like feelings of hope and accomplishment from learning how to handle tough situations, increased self-esteem, a more peaceful and inclusive school and home environment and healthier bodies.
...and We are Efficient!
Not only is Kids on the Block a vital positive influence for youth in our community,
but we’re also a smart investment! We are committed to making sure that your gift
goes as far as possible. Did you know that... ?
- 92% of Kids on the Block’s revenue goes directly toward program delivery.
- All our puppeteers are volunteers who donate an average of 100 hours each year,
for a total of almost 6,000 hours! Their donated time saved Kids on the Block over
$100,000 last year.*
- Because of generous donations from individuals, businesses and foundations, we
are able to offer Kids on the Block’s programs absolutely FREE to all schools and
community groups.
* (according to the value of volunteer time determined by Independent Sector in 2004).
Please help these important programs continue and reach even more children... by making a donation today!
Here's How
Our Funding Breaks Down:
*Please note that Special Events are outreach and educational opportunities and are, therefore, accounted for as a program expense.
